Bio:
Sebastian Leopold Cherry, Lord of Hougun Manor was born into a theatre loving family. With a very close Aunt working within the Broadway theatres for the vast majority of his life, Sebastian has been seeing Broadway shows since he was old enough to enter the theatres themselves. His first Broadway show was either Peter Pan (starring Cathy Rigby) or Beauty and the Beast. He honestly cannot remember which one he saw first. Both shows had elements that entranced Sebastian and this sparked a lifelong devotion to the art of theatre.
Sebastian participated in his local school district’s productions starting in the 8th grade where he worked behind the scenes as a stagehand. Throughout the grades of 9 through 12, Sebastian participated in the drama program. He tipped his toe into multiple aspects of theatrical productions by performing on stage, being a stagehand, and even joining tech crew.
Sebastian’s love of theatre did not dissipate as he entered college. He assisted in numerous college productions, often working behind the scenes. While in college, Sebastian took a semester to study abroad in the U.K. which opened him up to a wider range of theatre including pantomimes. All of this love of theatre has culminated in a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a minor in theatre.
Since graduating from college, Sebastian has continued to take joy and interest in theatre; whether that is attending a local production, a national tour, or seeing a show on Broadway.
Fun Facts:
- Sebastian understood at a young age (thanks to his Aunt) that theatre changes with every performance, but film does not. So, as a child, when Sebastian saw Peter Pan, he very much wanted to see what would happen if no one clapped for Tinkerbell. This led to Sebastian being greatly disappointed when the audience did in fact clap.
- The effect that entranced Sebastian in Beauty and the Beast was a fireball that was essentially thrown across the stage.
- Sebastian still does not know how the Time Turner effect is done in Harry Potter and Cursed Child. This annoys him greatly.
- Sebastian spent around 6 months during the shutdown from Covid debating with his brother (an English major and play write with a large interest in the theatre) about whether Les Miserables the musical meets the criteria to be a literary epic. However, he can’t remember what the conclusion that they came to was.
- Sebastian really does have a Lordship! It was purchased.
- Sebastian (as a very young teenager) once accidentally stalked Tim Curry in an attempt to prove to his friends that the person they passed on the street was not in fact Tim Curry. It was in fact, Tim Curry.
